Supreme court declares Oyetola as Osun State Governor; dismisses Adeleke appeal

Nigerian news has it that Mr. Ademola Adeleke appeal has been denounced by the supreme court of Nigeria on Friday while Gboyega Oyetola is declared the Governor.

Adeleke filed for an appeal months ago challenging the All Progressive Congress candidate, Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of the Osun State gubernatorial election

The Supreme Court in a split judgement of five to two on Friday, agreed to nullify Senator Adeleke's appeal

In the 2018 September election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Gboyega Oyetola as the Governor of Osun State

However, Senator Ademola Adeleke unsatisfied with the result, filed a petition against Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the tribunal. The tribunal then announced Adeleke as the Governor of Osun State

Gboyega appealed the verdict of the tribunal, saying there was no evidence he was the winner, he then appealed the verdict of the Tribunal

As of Friday 2019, Gboyega Oyetola is declared Governor of Osun state.
