Lagos Sports Trust Fund reveals plan to make Lagos its base for Sports Development

Nigerian news has it that The Lagos State Trust Fund has unveiled its plan to make Lagos State an abode for Sports Development.

The Lagos State Trust Fund is led by Olufemi Pedro who was inaugurated alongside with 11 members last March, by Governor, AKinwunmi Ambode.

Pedro presents the big plan and states the vision of the board at the Media session held in Lagos.

“The Lagos State Sports Trust Fund is set up to promote sports by creating state-wide sport awareness to ensure increased interest, participation and sustainability of sporting activities in the state.

Femi further said that the Plan was also created to ease the burden off the government of wholly financing Sports, and through the Public-private Partnership, funds will be raised.

“Sports Trust Funds has been tested successfully in many nations with well developed sports facilities and infrastructure and successful athletes development.

“Our vision is to be a world class trust fund, propelling Lagos to become the leading sports hub in Africa.

“Our mission is to raise and manage fund for the sustainable development and promotion of sports in Lagos.

"The LSSTF will also manage the funds in a judicious way, simply put, we will adequately manage sports funds in the state. We also have plans to build and maintain six standard sports centres in Lagos State"
